Rough weather halts unloading at Ctg port outer anchorage
Unloading bulk cargo from mother vessels at the outer anchorage of Chittagong port remains suspended since last night due to incessant rain and foul weather.
At present, unloading of bulk cargo from 35 vessels are suspended, our Chittagong correspondent reports quoting Mahbub Rashid, executive director of Water Transport Cell.
Water Transport Cell is a private organisation that coordinates schedules of lighter vessels that unload bulk cargo at the outer anchorage.
The ships were carrying various kinds of bulk cargo, such as sugar, salt, wheat, fertiliser, pulse, cement clinker and other such products.
However, unloading goods from 12 container vessels was going on at Chittagong port jetties, port authorities said in the afternoon.
