Satkhira ‘war criminal’ held

Police today arrested a war crimes accused from Satkhira nine days after the International Crimes Tribunal issued arrest warrant against him.

M Abdullah Al Baki alias Abdullah Hel Baki, 102, was arrested from his residence in Satkhira Sadar around 1:00 pm, prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chaman told The Daily Star.

Baki is one of the four accused in a case filed for committing crimes during the liberation war in the area. Among them, Jamaat chief in Satkhira Abdul Khaleq Mandol, 72, is already in jail.

Two others, Khan Rokonujjaman and Jahirul Islam alias Jahirul Haque are on the run.
