BU dismisses registrar Monirul for 'sexual harassment'
Barishal University authorities have dismissed its registrar Monirul Islam from his service for “sexually harassing” a girl.
The decision was taken at a syndicate meeting last night after a probe body found evidence of harassing the girl, BU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr SM Imamul Huq told our Barishal correspondent.
According to the BU sources, Monirul attempted to harass sexually a female candidate for a fourth-class post of the university and the video footage of the harassment scene became viral on internet in 2018.
Monirul was suspended in mid of 2018 and a three-member probe committee was formed to investigate the matter.
Then, BU teachers’ association brought an allegation against Monirul and demanded his removal from the service.
