Sonagazi madrasa principal indicted for harassing Nusrat
A tribunal in Feni today framed charges against former Sonagazi madrasa principal Siraj Ud Doula in a case filed over sexual assault on Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
Judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Mamunur Rashid framed the charges and fixed October 27 for the start of formal trial with the deposition of witnesses.
PBI Inspector Md Shah Alam submitted the charge sheet on July 3.
Nusrat Jahan Rafi’s mother filed the case accusing Siraj Ud Doula, principal of Feni’s Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa a few days before the madrasa student was set ablaze by a group of five unidentified persons.
The 18-year-old girl was set afire on April 6 allegedly for refusing to withdraw the sexual assault case filed against Siraj late March.
Nusrat lost her battle for life on April 10, five days after she was set ablaze at the madrasa -- an incident that touched off outrage all over the country.
