Submit progress report on private hospitals’ fees chart by Feb 6: HC

The High Court today directed the authorities concerned of the government to submit a report on the progress of displaying the chart of charges and fees of private clinics, hospitals and diagnostic centres in public view before this court by February 6.

The bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice Md Khairul Alam also fixed February 6 for passing further order on this issue.

The court passed the order after Deputy Attorney General Motaher Hossain Sazu placed a health ministry report before it (HC), saying that 95 diagnostic centres and 57 hospitals have already displayed the charts of their charges and fees in public views.

The government has also published advertisements in eight national dailies so that all the private clinics, hospitals and diagnostic centres display the charts of their charges and fees in public view, he added.   

Following a writ petition, the HC on July 24 last year directed the private clinics, hospitals and diagnostic centres to display the charts of their charges and fees in public view.

The court also asked the health secretary, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council to execute the order within 15 days after receiving the order and to submit a report to it after complying with the directive.
