Sust student held as militant suspect
Police claimed to have arrested a student of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology from the campus this morning for his alleged involvement in militancy.
Detainee Sadman Abedin is a student of computer science and engineering (CSE) department’s 2011 batch, reports our local correspondent quoting police.
Rashed Taluckder, an advisor of students’ welfare at Sust, said a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit along with Jalalabad police conducted a drive at 'A' building of the campus around 10:30am and detained Sadman.
Confirming the detention, Akhter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad Police Station, said he has been picked up for his alleged link with radical groups.
Earlier, two other students were arrested from the university campus. Among them, police said one was the coordinator of Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), university unit.
