Locals today formed a human chain demanding punishment of the Border Guard Bangladesh members, who opened fire during a scuffle with villages in Thakurgaon's Haripur upazila on Tuesday, leaving three dead.

People from all walks of life formed the human chain at Chourasta area in the district town, reports our Thakurgaon correspondent.

Addressing the programme, speakers also demanded compensation for the victims’ families immediately.

Three people were killed and at least 16 others suffered bullet wounds when members of a BGB patrol team opened fire on locals in Baharampur village following a clash over the seizure of smuggled cattle.

Yesterday, Deputy Commissioner KM Kamruzzaman Selim told journalists that the district administration gave Tk 20,000 to each of the victims' families as burial cost.
