3 cops shot during anti-drug drive in Dhaka
The policemen sustained bullet injuries during an anti-drug drive in Dhupkhola area of Dhaka this afternoon.
The injured policemen were taken to a local hospital with bullet wounds in their legs and hands, Nurul Amin, additional deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Wari Zone), told The Daily Star.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Gendaria Police Station conducted a drive in Ghuntighar area around 4:30pm to arrest a gang of the drug traders, the police official said.
Sensing the police presence, the criminals opened fire on them, leaving three policemen -- two assistant sub-inspectors and a constable -- injured, he said.
The identities of the injured policemen could not be known immediately.
Police arrested three people from the spot in this connection, he added.
