Derailment of a commuter train caused suspension of rail transportation on the Ishwardi, Rajshahi and Chapainawabganj routes for four hours today.

The Chapainawabganj train derailed near Ishwardi Bypass Railway Station around 7:30am in dense fog, Railway divisional traffic officer (DTO) Shawkat Jamil Mohoshi said.

Our local correspondent reports quoting him, rail communication returned to normalcy after a salvage train cleared the line around 11:30am.

A three-member inquiry committee has been formed in this regard to investigate the matter.
