Transport workers go on strike in Kushtia
Transport owners and workers have enforced an indefinite strike in Kushtia district following the arrest of a bus driver and his helper in town.
The strike was clamped down since this morning. No buses or trucks were seen plying in Kushtia due to the strike, our local correspondent reports.
Kushtia Transport Owners and Workers’ Association President Asgar Ali, also top leader of Kushtia district unit Awami Lague, announced the strike on Saturday.
Rapid Action Battalion’s local Company Commander Maj Robiul Islam said that the driver and his helper were arrested after one kilogramme of heroin was seized in their bus yesterday.
