2 N’ganj JMB men jailed for 20yrs
A Narayanganj court today convicted two members of banned militant outfit Jam'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and jailed them for 20 years in a case that was filed 11 years ago.
Judge Md Abdul Hannan, of the Additional Sessions Judges Court-2 and Special Tribunal 7, delivered the verdict in presence of the convicts, Saiful Islam, 33, and Mofijul Islam, 31, our local correspondent reports.
Saiful Islam was arrested from Tangail on December 29, 2006 with large amount of firearms and bullets in his possession, Public Prosecutor S M Wazed Ali Khokon said.
Later, according to the information obtained from him, Mofijul was arrested in January, 2007. They recovered 19 local hand grenades and 31 packets of power gel from his possession.
A case was filed in this regard against the duo at Sonargaon Police Station under the explosives act.
Saiful has several cases in different police stations against him. He has already been sentenced to death on one of the cases, Additional Public Prosecutor Jasmine Ahmed said.
