Unicef-Facebook launch joint initiative for children-safe internet

Unicef and Facebook today launched a joint initiative to create a safe digital world of internet for children in Bangladesh.

A press release issued in this regard said, over 10,000 children from over 100 schools, parents and guardians, and stakeholders converged at the launching event held in Dhaka.

Edouard Beigbeder, Unicef’srepresentative in Bangladesh, said digital laws must take into consideration the growing use of internet by children and should reflect the society’s responsibility towards them.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for ICT, said the children, along with their parents and stakeholders, must be made aware of their own security in the digital world.

The one-year long initiative will try to reach out to 2.50 crore children and their guardians and make them aware about safe internet for the children.
