US-Bangla plane crash: 14 Bangladeshis among 25 bodies identified
A total of 25 victims, including 14 Bangladeshis, who died in US-Bangla Airlines aircraft crash in Kathmandu of Nepal have been identified.
The bodies were identified through their fingerprint identification, Dr Shohel Mahmud, head of the Bangladesh forensic team in Nepal, said at a press briefing this evening.
Identities of the rest of the victims will be confirmed tomorrow through the fingerprints, he said adding, if not identified, DNA profiling will be conducted to ensure their identities, Dr Shohel said.
The relatives of the deceased were urged to wait patiently to see the bodies.
At least 51 people were killed as the US-Bangla Airlines aircraft crashed and burst into flames while landing at the Kathmandu airport in Nepal Monday afternoon.
Twenty-eight Bangladeshis, 22 Nepalis, and one Chinese citizen were killed in the deadly crash.
Besides, the government has formed a 13-member medical board headed by Dr Samanta Lal Sen for quick recovery of the survivors.
