Plane crash survivor Rubayet’s rib broken
One of the injured victims of the US-Bangla plane crash, Sheikh Rashed Rubayet, was brought to Dhaka today while another survivor Imrana Kabir Hashi will be flown to Singapore tonight.
A Biman Bangladesh flight landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with Rubayet at 3:15pm, a US-Bangla Airlines spokesperson Kamrul Islam told The Daily Star.
From the Dhaka airport, he was directly taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital at 4:11pm, our correspondent reports from the spot.
"Rubayet is in stable state. A rib was broken. He is suffering from trauma of the crash and tissue injuries in his leg, Dr Samanta Lal Sen, national coordinator of burn unit briefed newsmen at the DMCH this afternoon.
Rubayet, 33, is a senior executive of Bank Asia, family sources said.
About the rest four survivors, who are also undergoing treatment at the hospital, Sen said they are also suffering from trauma of the crash.
The flight left Tribhuvan International Airport with Rubayet at 1:15pm, General Manager of the airport Raj Kumar Chhetri told The Daily Star.
Meanwhile, Imrana Kabir Hashi, who was being treated at the ICU of Norvic International Hospital in Kathmandu with 30 percent burn injuries will be flown to Singapore for better treatment tonight, the official said.
Her husband Rakibul died in the crash. The couple married in 2012, family sources said.
At least 51 people were killed as the US-Bangla Airlines aircraft crashed and burst into flames while landing at the Kathmandu airport in Nepal Monday afternoon.
Twenty-eight Bangladeshis, 22 Nepalis, and one Chinese citizen were killed in the deadly crash.
Besides, the government has formed a 13-member medical board headed by Dr Samanta Lal Sen for quick recovery of the survivors.
