US-Bangla plane crash: Bangladeshi medics reach Nepal
A Bangladeshi medical team has reached Nepal for assisting in the healthcare of US-Bangla Airlines plane crash survivors.
The seven-member Bangladeshi medical team reached Kathmandu around 2:00pm (BST time), Prof AHM Enayet Hussain, additional director general at the Directorate General of Health Services, told The Daily Star.
The team members include two orthopedics specialists, two are burn specialists, two anesthesiologists and a forensic expert, he added.
DGHS DG Prof Dr Abul Kalam Azad, who is now in Delhi, will go to Nepal to see the situation, he said.
A total of 51 people from the 71 passengers and four crew members died when Flight BS211 of the US-Bangla Airlines crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Monday.
At least 26 Bangladeshi nationals were among the dead, while a number of injured survivors were undergoing treatment at hospitals in Kathmandu.
CID team in Nepal to collect DNA of crash victims
A team of Bangladesh’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has reached Nepal to collect DNA samples of the victims of the US-Bangla Airlines aircraft crash.
The two-member team of Additional SP Abdus Salam and Assistant DNA Analyst Ashraful Alam reached Kathmandu yesterday, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) (Media) of CID Sharmin Jahan told The Daily Star today.
They are collecting DNA samples from the victims who are not identifiable, the CID official said. Later, they will bring back the samples to Dhaka for testing and profiling.
They will also collect DNA samples from the victims' family members and compare those with victims' DNA to ascertain the identifies of the victims.
