Worker killed in Noakhali factory blast

A worker was killed and seven others injured after an explosion ripped through a pharmaceutical factory in BSCIC industrial area of Noakhali’s Begumganj upazila early today.

The deceased was identified as Nurul Amin Roni, 22, son of Khalilur Rahman hailing from the upazila, reports our local correspondent quoting police sources.

General Manager AKM Nurul Amin Chowdhury said the explosion took place in the early hours at Globe Drugs Limited factory, owned by Globe Pharmaceuticals in BSCIC area.

The workers were rushed to the hospital where Roni was declared dead, he added.

Md Abdullah, a sub-inspector at Begumganj Model Police Station, endorsed the facts and said that law enforcers have visited the spot, however, a reason for the blast was yet to be ascertained.
