Youth held for 'raping' 2.5-yr-old girl in Kishoreganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested a youth early today in connection with a case filed over alleged rape of a two-and-a-half year old girl in Mithamain upazila of Kishoreganj.

Tutul, 21, was arrested by a team of Rab-14 in Khaliajuri upazila in the district around 3:30am, said the elite force’s Commanding Officer Hasan Mustafa Swapan, also additional superintendent of police (ASP) in Kishoreganj.

Tutul remained absconding since the victim’s father lodged a case with Mithamain Police Station under Women & Children Repression Prevention Act last Friday, he said.

According to the case statement, Tutul called the girl out of her house in the absence of her parents in pretext of giving her candies.

“Then, he [Tutul] took her inside a boat one and a half kilometres away from her house and raped her there on last Thursday,” the First Information Report (FIR) said.

On information, her family rescued and took her to Kishoreganj Sadar Hospital, said Mukta Sultana, a consultant of the hospital.

“Her body bore several injury marks,” she said.
