8 associates of Omi placed on 2-day remand each
A Dhaka court today placed eight associates of Tuhin Siddiqui Omi, an influential businessman in Dhaka's Dakshinkhan area and at different posh clubs in the capital, on a two-day remand each in connection with a case filed over human trafficking.
The associates are Jasim Uddin, Salah Uddin, Musa, Rakibul Islam Rana, Golap Hossain Bulbul, Jakir Hossain, Nazmul and Alam.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Yeasmin Ara passed the order after Investigation Officer Kazi Golam Mostofa, an inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police, produced them before the court with a ten-day remand prayer in the case, court sources said.
The eight were arrested from different areas of the capital yesterday.
Earlier, a victim filed the case against Omi and five others with Dakshinkhan Police Station in the capital on June 17.
Omi is an accused in an attempted rape and murder case filed by actor Pori Moni.
On June 14, detectives arrested Omi along with Nasir Uddin Mahmud in the case.
