Body of woman found in carton at Dhaka's Bhasantek

Bhasantek police recovered the body of a woman from a carton near Dhaka Dental College in the capital this morning.

The identity of the deceased -- aged between 30 and 35 -- could not be known immediately.

Shafiqul Islam, inspector (investigation) of Bhasantek Police Station, said locals noticed a carton wrapped with adhesive tape near the hospital's gate 2. When they opened it, they found the body, the inspector said.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body around 6:00am.

Her mouth was taped and hands and legs were tied with adhesive tape, the inspector added.

Police suspected that she was strangulated to death and her body was left there last night.

The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
