Fourth grader raped, killed in Rajshahi

A fourth grader was killed after rape in Godagari upazila of Rajshahi in the early hours of today.

The 10-year-old victim was from the upazila's Pakri union, said Inspector Mahmudul Hasan, in-charge of nearby Kakonhat police outpost.

Police recovered her body from near her house around 10:00am today, reports our Rajshahi staff correspondent.

Quoting her family members, police said, the child went to bed at 11:00pm last night after having dinner with her parents but she was found missing in the morning.

Hours later, locals found her body and called 999, the national emergency service.

"The inquest and information provided by the family members suggest she was raped and murdered, and it occurred some time in the early hours," the police official said.

Her body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Senior Additional Superintendent of Police Md Asaduzzaman said Superintendent of Police ABM Masud Hossain visited the site and police began investigation into the incident.
