Rape charges: Ex-VP Nur’s name dropped from another charge sheet
Police have pressed charges against Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad's former convener Hasan Al Mamun but dropped the names of former DUCSU VP Nurul Haque Nur and four others in a case filed with Lalbagh Police Station over the rape of a Dhaka University student.
Investigation Officer Mohammad Aslam Uddin Mollah, an inspector of Lalbagh Police Station, submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka yesterday, court sources said today.
The investigator also prayed to the court to drop the names of Nur and four others from the charges of the case, saying their involvement was not found during investigation.
The four others are Nazmul Hasan Sohag and Saiful Islam, joint conveners of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad; Nazmul Huda, former vice-president of its DU unit and Abdullah Hil Baki, a DU student.
On September 20 last year, a DU student filed the case with Lalbagh Police Station, accusing six persons including Nur of rape, abetting rape and shaming her on social media.
