Poet Helal Hafiz hospitalised
Poet Helal Hafiz has been admitted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital again.
He was admitted there on Wednesday evening, as confirmed to The Daily Star by the poet himself at 8 pm.
"I have not been well for a few days. At around 6 pm today, on the instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a car was sent from CMH and brought to me. I have been admitted and now some tests will be done", the poet told The Daily Star.
Asked about the cause of illness, he said, "Mainly eye problems, not being able to eat, and difficulty walking."
He also said that he has been suffering from kidney problems, glaucoma, diabetes and neurological problems.
Hafiz was admitted to CMH in August last year due to age-related complications.
Born on October 7, 1948 in Netrakona, Helal Hafiz published his first book of poetry, Je Jale Agun Jole, in 1986. He won Bangla Academy Award in 2013 for poetry.
