Arekta Rock Band to rock Dhaka after two years
After nearly two years, the much-discussed Arekta Rock Band is set to make a comeback to the concert stage. For the first time in almost four years, the band will reunite with its founding members for a live performance.
Scheduled for Saturday (December 28) , Arekta Rock Band will headline the "Back in Town" concert at the National Library Auditorium in Agargaon, Dhaka.
Organised by Karkhana, the event will feature an exciting lineup, including performances by popular acts Owned, Firoze Jong, and Eida.
The current lineup of Arekta Rock Band includes guitarist Ifaz Abrar Reza and Sakib Manzur Zihan, bassist Arya, vocalist Riasat Azmi, and drummer Rasha. Formed in 2018, the band quickly gained popularity with hits like "Eden", "Chaap", and the duet "Ojana" featuring singer Xefer, creating an impression among the young audiences.
Following drummer Rasha's departure, Dipto joined the band, and they released their debut album, "Ghum Paranor Gaan". However, the band's journey was disrupted when guitarist Zihan and vocalist Riasat moved abroad, marking the end of an era.
"We never imagined people would remember us this way," shared guitarist Ifaz, who now performs with the band Nemesis.
When asked about future performances, Riasat, currently based in Los Angeles, admitted, "It's not possible to perform regularly on stage. I'll have to return to Los Angeles right after the Christmas holidays. However, I'll try to continue working remotely through studio sessions."
Concert organiser Rivu Mustafa shared that the event aims to celebrate the reunion of the band's original members, offering fans a nostalgic evening to remember.
