Yesterday, the Indian government released the complete list of Padma award recipients for 2025. These prestigious civilian honours are classified into three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.

One name that stands out the most is Bollywood's leading musician, Arijit Singh, who will be conferred with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award.

Arijit Singh has had a remarkable career in music. He first gained recognition in 2005 at the age of 18 when he participated in the reality show Fame Gurukul. Although he didn't win, his musical talent and command over melodies were widely appreciated.

Since making his Bollywood debut, he has lent his voice to numerous hit songs across various languages. Some of his most popular Bollywood tracks include "Tum Hi Ho', "Lutt Putt Gaya", "Chaleya, "O Sajni Re", "Jhoome Jo Pathaan", "Kesariya", and many more.

India's Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a total of seven Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri awardees. President Droupadi Murmu will confer these prestigious honors during ceremonial events at Rashtrapati Bhavan in March-April this year.

Late folk singer Sharda Sinha will be posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, while the Padma Bhushan will be conferred upon late singer Pankaj Udhas, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, and actor Ajith Kumar.

Musicians Arijit Singh and Ricky Kej have been recognized with the Padma Shri for their contributions to the field of music.

The Padma Awards are presented across various fields, including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, and civil service. They are announced annually on the eve of Republic Day.
