BTS’s V confesses that he thought about hurting himself to take a break
The world of Kpop has been nothing but endless practice and tight schedules, which may frequently take a toll on the minds and bodies of artistes. Their hectic schedules prevent them from unwinding and enjoying some personal space.
Korean sensation, BTS, had to travel worldwide to perform concerts. The band members have temporarily taken break to focus on their solo career and also enjoy some time personal time amidst their fast paced life.
Recently, BTS's V, whose Korean name is Kim Taehyung, appeared as a guest at Suga's show Suchwita. V opened up about several topics including the singer's recently released solo album "Layover, BTS reunion, and his wonderful memories from the past.
In the midst of this, Kim Taehyung revealed his dark period in 2018 when negative thoughts besieged him. He stated that he was so tired of BTS' hectic schedule that he considered injuring himself to get some rest. "I've never said this before. It's my first time confessing to my fans through Suchwita as to what goes through our minds. We were having such a difficult time, and no one could comprehend it," said the singer.
"At that time, everyone was so exhausted. Of course, we did our best, but sometimes we felt exhausted. When these moments struck Taehyung, we talked a lot about how exhausted we were," added Suga.
"It's as if after a while, I started comparing myself to others, as my pace is slower than the members, and my thoughts are a little different. Is that why I'm more burned out? This was something I considered a lot. When I look at my band members, I believe they are perfect and love being on stage. But why am I the only one who thinks this way? That's what I thought at the time. So, in comparison, my burnout was terrible," V admitted.
Suga admitted that all members should have focused on being proud of their accomplishments rather than dealing with these issues, but the opposite occurred. "But all of us were like, So what if our results are good? Why do we have to hurt ourselves this much to achieve results?" they said, meaning their bodies and brains were fatigued.
"I was completely drained and fatigued. I seriously considered taking a day off. I was so exhausted that I wished for a day when I could do nothing. In 2018, I was so tired after shooting the MV for 'Fake Love' that I asked the manager, since we only have dancing practice tomorrow, I thought it would be good to take a day off. But we couldn't rest because we were preparing for our comeback, which was an important dance practice. And thus, all of this negativity piled up inside of me. I didn't think I could do anything in that condition, so I tried to think of methods to rest. I even considered hurting myself. However, I want to change the old me and channel my thoughts into positive ones," said V.
BTS's members include singers like RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. Like Jungkook and J-Hope, other members have previously spoken about their difficulties.
