Dhaka Rock Fest 3.0: Two unforgettable nights of rock
In recent memory, 2022 has been quite the bustling year for the Bangladeshi music scene. Dhaka, in the post-pandemic era, has been witness to a wave of concerts and young crowds ready to attend them in masses. Simultaneously, organisers and performers have also consistently delivered wonderful experiences for those in attendance.
The third edition of Dhaka Rock Fest took place on December 27 and 28 at the Expo Zone of ICCB (International Convention City Bashundhara) organized by SkyTracker Limited. The event was another addition to the long list of amazing concerts this year. Full of surprises, this open air music fest spanned across two whole days of wintry December, from morning till night—with 32 bands performing, spread out across a variety of eras. Present were everyone from the biggest names of Bangladeshi rock to underground bands and fresh faces, perfectly showcasing how a music festival should be.
"This project is like my baby and I am trying raise it the right way", said Doza Alan, CEO of SkyTracker Limited, while speaking to The Daily Star.
He added, "The idea was to give a platform to the underground bands so they can experience the bigger stage. Look at the number of amazing bands who performed at the show. Yet, we tried our best to give them enough time, despite the large number of bands. Hopefully, next time Dhaka Rock Fest will be bigger and better, perhaps lasting for a few more days as well. Apart from cricket, we don't see such huge crowd participation in any other field of sport or entertainment. For many of us, music is an integral part of who we are. So, while the scene here is small, since we all know each other, we will collectively work together to establish a platform for rock, no matter what!"
All in all, Dhaka Rock Fest 3.0 not only delivered a mesmerizing audio-visual experience to its audiences, but also set a new standard for open air shows, bidding a rocking adieu to a beautiful year of Bangladeshi band music.
