‘Hope this recognition promotes more creative collaborations between the Bengals’
Celebrated Bangladeshi lyricist Asif Iqbal has been nominated at the Joy Filmfare Awards (Bangla) for writing the song, "Mayar Kangal" in the movie, "Olpo Holeo Shotti". This is his first Filmfare Award nomination.
"I am honoured that my work has been recognised by the Filmfare Awards. I hope this paves the way for more creative collaborations between the Bengals. Such recognitions inspire us to keep evolving and improving as musicians," Asif Iqbal told The Daily Star.
"Our actors have been doing exceptionally well in the film industry of West Bengal for the last few years. It feels great to see our musical talents being lauded by the industry now, too."
Besides, young Bangladeshi vocalist Mahtim Shakib has been nominated in the Best Playback Singer (Male) category for the song "Take Alpo Kache Dakchi" in the movie, "Prem Tem".
The 5th Joy Filmfare Awards (Bangla) are set to be held in Kolkata on March 17.
