Rajib Ashraf’s unpublished song to be featured in ‘Mukto Karagar’
An unreleased song by the esteemed Bangladeshi poet, lyricist, and filmmaker late Rajib Ashraf is set to be included in an upcoming film. The talented artist, who passed away on September 1 of this year, will be posthumously contributing to the film with his unpublished work.
The film, titled "Mukto Karagar", will be directed by Rahima Afrooz Munni. The film's directorial panel is utilising one of Rajib's unpublished songs, "Agachhar Phool", for their film.
"We are planning to record the song within a few days. The song will be composed by popular musician Muiz Mahfuz and voiced by Hatirpool Sessions famed singer Ahmed Hasan Sunny," said the film's executive producer Mahmud Didar.
Regarding the use of Rajib's song posthumously, director Rahima Afrooz Munni said, "Late poet and lyricist Rajib Ashraf lent us four of his songs to use in this film. From the four, we took 'Agachhar Phool' for our film."
"The film's shooting has concluded, and we are currently finishing up the post-production work. If everything runs smoothly, we are planning to release the film in the upcoming Pahela Falgun," added the director.
The film's central plot revolves around a sexual and domestic violence survivor woman's life and her journey toward freedom. Director Rahima Afroze Munni depicts the character of the protagonist herself in the movie, while Nafiz Ahmed and Tuhin will accompany her by portraying different characters.
Rajib Ashraf's artistic contributions have left an indelible mark on the Bangladeshi music and film industry. He was widely known for his collaborations with the popular singer Shayan Chowdhury Arnob, having penned lyrics for several hit songs that resonated with music lovers across the country. Some of these tracks include "Hok Kolrob", "Naam Chilo Na", "Prokrito Jol", "Ghum", "Dhushor Megh", "Rod Boleche Hobe", "Prtoddhoni", "Ekta Meye", and "Mon Kharaper Ekta Bikel".
