Bangladeshi singer Resmi Mirza, one with a sharply grounded vocal prowess is also one with a tried and true love for folk music since the beginning of her musical voyage. Mentored by the celebrated Khulna Shilpa Kola Academy music teacher and founder of his own Music Academy Sa-re-ga-ma-pa, Mirza Golam Rasul, who also happens to be her father, Resmi found her direction. In a way, she found her calling having come from a musical family — her siblings are self-assured musicians too.

Resmi entered the industry through "Power Voice 2012" and gained recognition with "Ninduker Mukhe Poruk Chai", leading to her band Resmi & Mati. Though written in 2012, their song "Mati" was delayed and officially released last December to her heart's satisfaction, showcasing her powerful vocal style. She proudly funded the production of the song herself. The "Premer Laddu" singer also experienced garnering 13 million views within a day, when this item song featuring Tama Mirza was first released.

While having a brief conversation with her over the phone, she spoke about finding inspiration and love for folk songs, expressing, "I learned much when my father used to teach classical Nazrul Geeti and folk songs. He taught the significance of folk songs so that singers could sing using emotions. My love for folk songs began developing ever since I dug deeper into the ways of singing. Anusheh Anadil is also a singer I was heavily influenced by."

"The emotions weaved into folk songs and the lyrics feel profound for me, which is why I am a big fan of the genre. I also prefer to sing folk songs because they suit my vocal range. I genuinely believe that folk artistes are inherently versatile," she added when talking about her favourite genre.

An ardent devout of the folk genre, Resmi further commented, "Folk music is rather open-minded, a variety of elements can be added to it to make it presentable to people of all ages. Granted it once had a reputation of only belonging to vagabonds, but its reputation has far surpassed that spectrum. It is widely accepted in foreign countries like the USA."

In response to being asked about her plans for the year, she answered, "Several more songs from Resmi & Mati and my solo songs are set to be released throughout the year. One of these songs, composed by Protic Hasan and written by Lutfor Hasan, will hopefully be out within a month or two."

Referring to her musical journey and all that she has learned for herself, she then discussed a bit about her dreams, "I would love to one day tune songs aside from growing more as a singer. I may be largely associated with the folk genre but I wouldn't have in any other way. If I ever get the chance to collaborate on projects with singers Pritom Hasan, Emon Chowdhury alongside Arijit Singh, and Sunidhi Chauhan from our neighbouring country, I would be extremely pleased."
