After facing brutal levels of criticism for his comments against KK, Indian singer Rupankar Bagchi has once again stirred up controversy. The singer has been accused of stealing a song from rising artiste Manorama Ghoshal.

After KK's death, a musical programme was arranged on May 31. On that same day, Rupankar took to a Facebook live, mocking the deceased icon saying, "Who is KK man?"

Negative comments started pouring in, some in foul language and others in the form of threats, as soon as the live show went viral. Rupankar later apologised and deleted the Facebook video.

Soon after this incident, a formal complaint against Rupankar was lodged by Manorama Ghoshal. Alongside Rupankar, Ghoshal also lodged a complaint against National Award-winning singer and music director Partha Banerjee in Kolkata's New Town Police Station.

Manorama Ghoshal claimed that she had sung a song, "Shagor Tumi Kano Daako", which was uploaded to her YouTube channel on December 12, 2021. This song was composed by Partha Banerjee, who Ghoshal had met through her teacher in November of that year.

Manorama Ghoshal claimed that Banerjee had sold her the song for Rs 28,000. However, recently the director had asked Ghoshal to take down the song from her YouTube channel.  Banerjee had told Ghoshal to take the song down, as Rupankar had also sang a version of it. Manorama then filed the claim, alleging that she had spent a total of Rs 48,000 behind producing this song.

Banerjee told an India news outlet that Ghoshal had only given him Rs 5000 for the song, and that he had not officially sold it to her. He also added that Manorama had not sung the song well either, and that Rupankar had not done anything wrong.
