Sahana Bajpaie receives PhD degree, shares special moment with fans
Dr Sahana Bajpaie, the renowned singer, songwriter, and academic who teaches Bengali language and literature at SOAS, University of London, shared a video yesterday of receiving her PhD certificate in Music from King's College London, University of London.
The video posted on her official Facebook page attained attention and congratulatory reactions from other celebrities, her fans, friends and family.
In June of last year, the singer made headlines by sharing a video on Instagram that went viral. The video shows her student, Lila Saw-Mitchell, performing Tagore's timeless piece "Amar Praner Manush Aache Prane" with great passion. Her soulful voice filled the atmosphere, bringing the iconic song to life.
For the past two decades, Bajpaie has dedicated her career as both a singer and academic to exploring the musical compositions of Rabindranath Tagore, one of the most celebrated poets of the Bengali language.
Since her debut album, released in Dhaka in 2007, her interpretations of Rabindra Sangeet have provided a new generation of Bengalis with a fresh auditory perspective, blending Tagore's timeless lyrics with a modern musical landscape.
