In response to the rising wave of violence against women and environmental destruction across Bangladesh, Bangladesh Tree Protection Movement and BotTala are coming together to organize a cultural protest under the banner "Resist Violence Against Women and Nature."

The event will be held on Friday, March 21 at 3 PM at Panthakunja, a public space that has recently become a symbol of citizen resistance against reckless development.

In a joint statement, the organizers expressed deep concern over the increasing incidents of harassment against women in the country. "We are devastated and outraged by the disturbing trend of women being attacked in public spaces, mocked for their attire, filmed without consent, and subjected to online abuse," the statement read. Referring to the brutalities faced by victims such as young Asiya, they criticized and condemned the government's inaction.

The groups also highlighted environmental concerns, particularly the ongoing protests to save Panthakunja from ill-planned development projects. Despite nearly 100 days of demonstrations, the authorities have yet to respond with any meaningful action. Activists warned that without immediate intervention, both nature and public spaces will face irreversible harm.

The event will feature protest-themed cultural performances by artists and activists from BotTala and like-minded socio-cultural organizations. Organizers have called on all conscious citizens to attend and raise their voices through art, music, and collective action.
