16th International Children’s Film Fest concludes
The 16th International Children's Film Festival came to a close yesterday with a grandiose award ceremony. The three-day-long fest began on September 7, at two venues – the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) and Alliance Française de Dhaka (AFD).
As chief guest of the event, renowned artiste Asaduzzaman Noor attended the festival. Filmmaker and Founder Morshedul Islam, Author Dr Muhammed Zafar Iqbal and General Secretary Munira Morshed Munni from Children's Film Society were also present at the award ceremony.
The 16th International Children's Film Festival gave out five awards to child filmmakers in two categories including the Special Children's Film and the Young Bangladeshi Filmmaker.
Under the Special Children's Film category, five films were submitted, and two will be screened. In this category, Amitrakshar Biswas's film "Lullaby" won the first prize and Mohammad Niaz Hasan's "Order" claimed the second prize.
Meanwhile, Irtija Alam Joyeeta and Aminul Islam Niloy's jointly created "Euphoric Paranoia" won the third prize.
In the Young Bangladeshi Filmmaker section, 35 films were submitted, with 15 making it to the screen, and two earning awards. Amongst these films, Mustak Muzahid's "Prothasiddho" won first prize while Novera Hasan Nikkon's "Aguan-Sun Behind the Horizon" took the second prize.
This time, the 16th edition of the International Children's Film Festival highlighted 101 children's films from 39 countries including Bangladesh, Argentina, India, Brazil, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Iran, Spain, France and others.
