22 feature films receive government grants this year
Each year, the Government of Bangladesh provides grants to several full-length and short films. For the 2022-2023 fiscal year, 22 films received the grant, as announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on June 18.
The full-length film category comprises 22 movies, including one in the Liberation War-based genre, one in the Liberation War-based children's category, two in the children's category, and 18 in the general category. Additionally, the short film category encompasses six films that have been awarded grants.
Leading the way in the full-length film category are Noor Imran Mithu and Nurul Alam Atique, who secured the highest grants, amounting to BDT 65 lakh each. Mithu's film "Circus" will feature his directorial prowess; while "Lal Mia" by Nurul Alam Atique, will be produced by Matia Banu Shuku.
In the Liberation War-based category, Badrun Nahar Roxy received a grant of BDT 60 lakh for the film "Juddho Shishu", directed by Mohammad Ullah. Mahin Mahnuma's film "Bhor" in the Liberation War-based children's category also earned a grant of BDT 60 lakh, with Aminur Rahman Khan taking on the role of director.
Moving to the general category, noteworthy recipients include Sadiq Siddiqui for "Dena Paona"; Rezwan Shahriar Sumit for "Master"; Masud Pothik for "The August"; Rokeya Prachi for "Renur Muktijuddho"; Jyotika Pal Jyoti for "Lara"; Jhumur Asma Jui for "Dui Poyshar Manush"; Md. Sajeeb Ahmed for "Sardarbarir Khela"; Anwar Hossain for "Thikana"; Enayet Karim Babul for "Jibon Amar Bon"; Kaushik Shankar Das for "Surjo Shontan"; SM Tariq Rahman for "Shironam"; SD Rubel for "Neel Pakhi Akashe URe"; Fakhrul Arefin Khan for "Neel Josnar Jibon"; Mostafizur Rahman Manik for "Rukhsaar"; Rasheda Akhter Lajuk for "Shapla Shaluq" and Yasir Arafat for "Amar Mukti Aloy Aloy".
