Anurag Kashyap praises 'Rehana Maryam Noor', calls the film ‘extraordinary’
Acclaimed Indian director Anurag Kashyap praised Abdullah Mohammad Saad's second feature film, "Rehana Maryam Noor", at the 74th Cannes Film Festival. In a video posted by the film's lead actor Azmeri Haque Badhon, Kashyap shared his comments on the film.
"Rehana Maryam Noor" is the first Bangladeshi film to be officially selected for the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. Kashyap visited this year's festival, and attended screenings of the film. In his own words, "Rehana Maryam Noor is one of the most powerful films to have come out from our part of the Indian subcontinent."
"It felt good watching the film. It completely shook me when I saw the film. The way it was shot, the writing, the lighting design, the performances - It was quite extraordinary," he shared.
Alongside Azmeri Haque Badhon, the ensemble cast of the film features Saberi Alam, Afia Zahin, Kazi Sami Hasan, Afia Tabassum Borno, and Yasir Al Haque among others.
