Ziaul Faruq Apurba debuted in Tollywood last week with Pratim D Gupta's film "Chaalchitro". Just a week after its release, the sequel has been announced, and according to reports by Hindustan Times Bangla, the director says Apurba is set to reprise his role.

In "Chaalchitro," released on December 20, Apurba portrays a mysterious character who alters the story's direction.

While the film didn't impact the box office, it drew praise from critics. Though Apurba's screen time was brief, his performance stood out. Director Pratim D Gupta praised Apurba, noting his charm and explaining that he aimed to showcase him in a mysterious light, which resonated well with the audience.

The story of the film "Chaalchitro" revolves around a case from 12 years ago, which will serve as the starting point for the next chapter. Additionally, the sequel will continue from where the first film ended.

The director hence does not want to call it just a sequel. He described the next instalment as both a prequel and a sequel. The title of the new film has not been finalised yet, but it will be produced by Friends Communication.

Not only Apurba, but actors from the first part, "Chaalchitro", – Tota Roy Chowdhury, Anirban Chakrabarti, Bratya Basu, and Shantanu Maheshwari – will also return for the next instalment.

Director Pratim D Gupta said, "The story of 'Chaalchitro' revolves around a murder that took place 12 years ago, involving Bratya Basu's character. Tota and Anirban play police officers investigating the case. These scenes will be shown in the next film instalment, so you can call this movie an amalgamation of both prequel and sequel."

Actor Tota Roy Chowdhury was surprised by the announcement of the next film just a week after the release of the first. He said, "This has never happened before. I never imagined I would suddenly hear about the second part like this. But given the feedback 'Chaalchitro' has received since its release, I believe it's the right decision. A second part was necessary for the story."

The director is currently focused on the screenplay and character development. Filming is expected to begin in Kolkata at the start of the new year.

Apurba is currently in the United States. According to the director, Apurba will join the shooting for the new instalment of "Chaalchitro" as soon as he returns. The director also mentioned that for now, the film is scheduled for release around next year's Durga Puja or Christmas.
