Indian television actress Juhi Parmar has written an open letter to Greta Gerwig for her "inappropriate" representation of Barbie in her film.

The actor has opened up about her experience taking her 10-year-old daughter to see the film, which stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

On Monday, Juhi Parmar turned to Instagram and posted a four-page open letter to the new Barbie film.

"A lot of my audience is not going to be happy with what I share today, some of you may send me a lot of angst, but I share this note as a concerned parent to Barbie! And for other parents out there, don't make the same mistake I did and double-check before taking your child to see the movie; the choice is yours," read her post.

She later slammed the film for having "inappropriate language" and "sexual connotations."

"I was anxiously running out of the theater, wondering what I had just exposed my child to," she continued.

"I was looking forward to seeing Greta's film, and here I was, stunned, saddened, and heartbroken by what I had just shown her. I was the first to leave the movie after 10/15 minutes, and by the time I got there, I observed other parents following with their weeping children, while some parents decided to stay and see the full movie. I'm pleased I left within 10-15 minutes because I didn't want to think about how much worse it may have gotten," read her excerpts.

Juhi's open letter has gotten a lot of backlash on the internet. Many users criticised her for not viewing the entire film before jumping to conclusions.

"You know, instead of posting a review based on 10-15 minutes of the movie, maybe try watching the entire thing and then form an opinion," a user commented on Juhi's Instagram post.

Another user wrote, " You provide no examples of what was remotely incorrect in the film throughout your post. The film is rated PG-13 because Barbie is a functioning adult, and the concepts are more complex than a youngster could ever comprehend. You're only upset because they depicted Barbie as a real woman rather than the idealised image you've been giving your children. You could have written a more intellectual review if you had seen the entire thing (with or without your child)."

"The makers of Barbie dolls made it inappropriate for kids from the beginning. The clothes, body curvature, and standards of the dolls are improper for children," added another netizen.

Barbie has broken box office records all around the world. The picture, which competed at the box office with Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, is rulling all over theatres.
