‘Barbie’ set to break ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows’ record
Greta Gerwig's "Barbie" is rulling over global box office and has already broken records of "The Dark Knight". Now, the film is all set to break "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" record as well.
On Monday, "Barbie" will overtake "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" as the highest grossing global release in the history of Warner Bros. Over the weekend, it earned $18.2 million from 12,852 screens in 75 international territories, to push its worldwide gross to a smashing $1.34 billion, according to Variety.
And it's not done breaking records. It seems likely that "Barbie" will soon bypass "The Super Mario Bros Movie" to become the top film of the year at the global box office.
According to Collider, "Barbie" has surpassed "The Dark Knight" ($533 million) as the highest-grossing global release in Warner Bros history at the domestic box office.
Warner Bros reported that "Barbie" earned $17.1 million in its sixth week of distribution, according to AP.
According to Warner Bros, "Barbie" was estimnated to earn $7.8 million on Sunday, which means that over 2 million people watched the film that day.
"Barbie" stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in lead roles. After countless computer-animated films and specials, this is the first live-action "Barbie" feature. Other cast members include America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Helen Mirren, Issa Rae, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, Rhea Perlman, and Will Ferrell.
