"Bildakini" was set to hit theatres today, after facing multiple changes to its official release date. However, at the eleventh hour, the release of the government-funded film has been postponed once again. The director of the film, Fazlul Kabir Tuhin confirmed the news to the local media.

When asked about the reason behind the delay, Tuhin said the release had been postponed due to "unavoidable circumstances." While no new date has been announced yet, the director had hinted at the possibility of a delay earlier.

"We've been going through a turbulent time for the past few months. Audiences are not visiting cinemas during this period. Distributors have also expressed concerns regarding the matter. So, we have to rethink the release," he said last Monday (January 20).

The upcoming film "Bildakini" is adapted from the novel, of the same name, by acclaimed writer Nuruddin Jahangir. The story revolves around themes of women's empowerment and the freedom of motherhood.

The film stars Mosharraf Karim and Indian actress Parno Mittra in the lead roles. Mosharraf portrays Manik Majhi, the son of a Baul, whose father was killed by extremists. Raised under the care of a writer, Manik's life takes a tragic turn when the writer is also murdered, leaving him wrongfully imprisoned.

Parno plays Hanufa, the central character of the story. Her husband is sent to jail on false murder charges by a corrupt local chairman, who then assaults her. When Hanufa becomes pregnant, society ostracises her. She finds a companion in Manik Majhi, who stands by her side.

The ensemble cast also features Gazi Rakayet, Lutfur Rahman George, Saberi Alam, Manoj Pramanik, and others in pivotal roles.
