Bollywood icon Rekha makes rare appearance on Vogue Arabia’s cover
Rekha may be nearly 70 years old, but the actress proved that age is just a number in a series of images she shot for Vogue Arabia. She looked lovely on the cover and oozed confidence and elegance in all of the photographs.
She posed for the cover of Vogue Arabia in a gorgeous golden saree by Manish Malhotra and stylised it with diamond necklaces and bangles.
She also wore a stunning Anarkali with churidar and a dramatic gold headpiece, as well as huge necklaces and juttis. In another photo, she wore a headpiece which was clearly inspired by peacock feathers, was matched with great detailed eye makeup, a dark lip, and gold rings on all fingers.
In her first interview in nearly two decades, the legendary actress revealed as to why she hasn't started in films since her last movie "Super Nani" in 2014.
Rekha told Vogue Arabia, "Whether I appear in films or not, it never leaves me. I have my memories to relive what I love. And when the time is right, the right project will find me. My persona is my own, but my cinematic persona is in the eye of the beholder. Therefore, I choose where I want to be and where I don't want to be. I am so blessed to have earned the right to choose what I love. And to have the luxury to simply say no."
The actor was also asked whether passionate love can fade away with time.
"No, once a relationship is formed, it is permanent. Sometimes we want more, and other times we just want enough. I was born with a natural desire to preserve beauty. Yes, I was destined to be an actress...But it is my voracious thirst for knowledge, as well as my willingness to keep my eyes and heart open, absorbing beauty with optimism rather than negativity, that has given me command of my profession. Every day, I feel like a stranger. And I have faith in people who are as committed as I am," concluded the actress.
Rekha began her acting career as a kid in Telugu films such as "Inti Guttu" (1958) and "Rangula Ratnam" (1966). Her debut film as a lead actress was 1969's "Operation Jackpot". Her Hindi debut film was titled "Sawan Bhadon" (1970). Recently, she has appeared in guest roles in films and television series.
