Brad Pitt collapses on set while filming intense car crash scene
Brad Pitt experienced a major health scare while filming a car crash scene for his upcoming movie "F1".
During a dramatic car crash scene, the 59-year-old actor was observed stumbling and eventually collapsing. Wearing full racing attire, Pitt was seen limping away from the crash site before collapsing onto a padded mat held by the crew.
"F1" is slated for release in June 2025. The high-octane film is expected to be a major summer hit. It features cameos from real F1 drivers and Brad Pitt behind the wheel of a specially customised F2 car.
As the final filming schedule for his much-anticipated movie, co-produced with F1 legend Lewis Hamilton, approaches, Brad Pitt has frequently been seen at Grand Prix events. On November 23, after George Russell secured pole position for the Vegas race, Pitt took to the track to film a scene as his character, Sonny Hayes.
Moments after fans captured footage of the actor, dressed in complete racing gear, stumbling away from a crash site and collapsing onto a padded mat held by a crew member, news surfaced about the 60-year-old's upcoming role. He will appear in the film alongside stars like Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Kerry Condon, Sarah Niles, and Idris Elba.
Pitt's team (APX GP) quickly released a statement regarding his health, using his character's name, Sonny, shortly after the footage went viral, revealing, "During qualifying, Sonny experienced a major impact that necessitated immediate medical attention. Incidents of this scale are always treated with utmost seriousness, and Sonny's well-being is our primary concern."
APX GP stated, "Although Sonny is stable, he will not race tomorrow as he focuses on recovery. The entire team supports him, and we will provide updates when possible. Joshua [Pearce] will race alone tomorrow, representing the team."
Filming for the "F1" movie took place over weekends at renowned tracks like Silverstone, Hungary, Spa, Monza, Zandvoort, Japan, Las Vegas, Abu Dhabi, and Mexico City. To seamlessly incorporate the fictional team, APXGP, into the real-world racing scene, the production was given access to an empty garage at each location. This allowed them to create a realistic and immersive atmosphere for the film.
The forthcoming American sports drama, starring Brad Pitt, is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for his work on the Tom Cruise blockbuster "Top Gun: Maverick," with a screenplay written by Ehren Kruger.
"F1" centres on Pitt as a retired Formula One driver who returns to racing, teaming up with his partner (played by Damson Idris) at APXGP, a fictional team.
