Actress and dancer Mehbooba Mahnoor Chandni is returning to television in a special Eid-ul-Azha drama titled Tumi Ami O Shey, directed by Azizul Hakim. Interestingly, the story for the production has been written by his wife, actress and director Zeenat Hakim.

While Azizul Hakim continued to appear on screen in recent years, he had stepped back from taking on directorial roles until now. "I've directed for many years, often juggling multiple projects at once," he told local media. "But direction demands full attention and responsibility—it's like being the captain of a ship. That level of commitment can be hard to balance with other roles. Still, I want to direct occasionally."

The upcoming drama follows the story of a man returning from the United States who falls in love with a girl in Bangladesh. However, his family insists he marry someone from the US, leading to emotional conflict.

When asked why he cast Chandni, Azizul Hakim said, "I always try to work with actors from our era. The two of us maintain a long-standing understanding and chemistry. After reading the script, I felt Chandni was the perfect fit for the role, and her schedule matched."

Chandni also shared her thoughts, "Working under Hakim bhai's direction is always a great experience. The story is compelling and touches on themes of personal freedom. I no longer work just for the sake of being on screen. The script must be worth it."

The drama features Abdun Noor Sajal opposite Chandni, reuniting the duo after a long while.
