Darlings trailer: Dark humour against domestic violence
Netflix dropped the trailer for Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah starrer film "Darlings" on Monday. The trailer, which has already created buzz among the audience, is a perfect amalgamation of dark comedy and domestic violence.
The film features Alia and Shefali Shah as a clever mother-daughter duo, the film also stars Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew.
The trailer shows a couple in Mumbai, Badrunissa (Alia) and Hamza (Vijay), who seem to be madly in love while hiding the truth behind closed doors. Badrunissa is a victim of domestic violence at the hands of her husband Hamza, who shortly goes missing.
Another clip shows Hamza abusing his wife. So, Badrunissa decides to treat Hamza just the way he treats her, which is anything but kind.
The film is directed by Jasmeet K Reen, who is making her directorial debut with the film.
Darlings is billed as a dark comedy-drama which chronicles the lives of a mother-daughter combo striving to find their place in Mumbai, seeking bravery and love in unique circumstances while struggling against all difficulties.
The film will be releasing on Netflix, on August 5.
