Deepika confirmed for ‘Lady Singham’ in Rohit Shetty’s cop-universe
Bollywood star Deepika Padukone will be donning the role of 'Lady Singham' in Rohit Shetty's next cop-universe franchise film.
The announcement was made on Thursday, during the launch of a song that will be featured in the upcoming Rohit Shetty film, "Cirkus". Present at the launching event, which was being held in Mumbai, was Ranveer Singh and Deepika.
At the premiere of "Current Laga Re", the song which features Deepika and Ranveer, Rohit stated he would also be collaborating with Deepika Padukone for the Ajay Devgn-starrer, "Singham" again.
"My next film will be on Singham, from our cop universe. Everybody keeps asking me when I'll introduce Lady Singham. So, here it is, Deepika Padukone will play Lady Singham in 'Singham Again'. She is my lady bomb from the cop universe, and we're going to start working together on the project from next year," said Rohit.
Through this film, Deepika will become the first female police officer in Shetty's cop universe, which includes the "Singham", "Suryavanshi", and "Simmba" franchises.
Rohit and Deepika previously collaborated on the 2013 film "Chennai Express", which starred Shah Rukh Khan. The actress and filmmaker will now collaborate once again after around a decade.
