Dia Mirza—who made her acting debut in 2001 with the film, "Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein" (RHTDM)—has spoken out about the film's alleged glorification of stalking. If she were offered the project now, she would reconsider 'certain aspects' of it and would be totally opposed to the stalking elements. Dia and her co-star, R Madhavan both made their debuts in "RHTDM".

In an interview with Outlook, the actress stated that she isn't sure whether this kind of film will be accepted by the audience in today's day and age.

"I can't speak about whether that film can be made or not, as all kind of films are going around. However, if I were offered that picture, I would question certain aspects of it and hope that the writers would adjust them. I internalised some components of that film and realised they were related to the proper transmission of love. I am strongly against stalking. It's a terrible thing to do, in my opinion," shared the actor.

Madhavan (Maddy) falls in love with Dia (Reena) and pretends to be her fiancé in "RHTDM". He tries to woo her over by following her around and deceiving her.

Dia also talked about the film's glorification of stalking, saying, "Not only does Maddy's character stalk Reena, but he also lies to her. Of course, she ends her connection with him after she discovers the truth, only to discover that he is sincerely sorry, and loves and cares for her. But there is no excuse for stalking in this world, lying is bad, and stalking is far worse. I guess as a society, we don't see stalking as a bad thing. I believe our films are responsible for propagating the idea that lying is the correct thing to do," added the actor.

Gautham Menon wrote and directed "RHTDM". The film was a remake of "Minnel," a Tamil film.
