Ending my year-long break: Mehazabien
With her relentless efforts and excellent performances, renowned actor Mehazabien has carved her place in the hearts of the Bangladeshi audience. With great works like "Punorjonmo", "Redrum" and "Sabrina" amongst many others, the actor has become one of the most popular artistes in the industry. Yet, Mehazabien has been away from acting for almost a year now.
However, the actor plans to make a comeback with her upcoming project this Eid.
In a casual chat with The Daily Star, Mehazabien shared her thoughts on her career and her sudden break.
Did you miss shooting while you were on your break?
I missed it a lot. Honestly, I missed hearing the words 'shooting house', 'camera', 'action'. Even a year ago, I used to shoot regularly, used to go to the shooting spots, and hear my director's shout 'action'. But now, I haven't been visiting the shooting houses as frequently as before.
You have earned immense love due to your acting career. What does acting mean to you?
Acting is everything to me, as that's what I primarily do. I love acting with all my heart. So much that even if I want to, I can't venture anywhere else.
What do you have to say about the rumours of you leaving acting?
I have never said that I would be retiring from acting. I will still be acting but not as much as before. It's true that I have been away from the acting for a year now but I still do get offers. I have always maintained good relationship with everyone I have worked with.
What type of roles do you want to pursue now?
I will do more challenging projects which will give me satisfaction as an actor. I don't want to work as much as I used to. I might be doing fewer projects but they have to be to my liking and worthy of the audience's love. The story is always the chief aspect, so I'll work on things that catch my interest.
What are your plans for the coming Eid?
I will be spending this Eid in Dhaka with my family. Eid means extra happiness for everyone, and it's the same for me. I might be going abroad after Eid though. I wish everyone a happy and jolly Eid.
Tell us a bit about your childhood Eid experiences.
My childhood Eids were spent abroad, with all the family members. Those days were beautiful. I remember the memories of spending time with school friends during the Eid holidays. These sweet experiences are something you only get when you are a child.
Will the fans only see you in 'Punorjonmo: Ontim Porbo' on this Eid?
Yes, I will be breaking my year-long hiatus with "Punorjonmo: Ontim Porbo", releasing this Eid. It's been quite a while since I had joined the shoot for a project. My reason for doing this tele-film is the story and my character. I want to associate myself with good stories and characters just like this.
