Esha Gupta revisits her two casting couch encounters
Known for her roles in movies like "Jannat 2", "Rustom", and the web-series "Aashram 3", Esha Gupta, has bravely shared her distressing encounters with the casting couch in Bollywood, shedding light on a pervasive issue within the industry.
In a recent interview with Spotboye, Esha Gupta disclosed that she had faced the casting couch on two separate occasions. The first incident involved a producer who demanded sexual favours from her, a request she firmly declined. Esha did not divulge the producer's identity or the film in question but mentioned that the producer had insisted on her exclusion from the project.
Following this encounter, Esha revealed that certain filmmakers refused to cast her in their films. She had overheard discussions where people questioned her suitability for a role, stating, "If she won't do anything, then what's the point of casting her in the film?"
Recounting another incident, Esha Gupta disclosed that she had encountered two individuals who attempted to lure her into the casting couch trap. However, she astutely recognised their intentions. Despite the unethical advances, she decided to work on the film because it represented a small step forward in her career.
In a smart move to protect herself, Esha ensured her safety during an outdoor shoot by insisting that she would not sleep alone. She called her makeup artiste to stay in her room, thwarting any potential misconduct.
Expressing her frustration and anger regarding such incidents, Esha Gupta emphasised that such individuals are unlikely to target star kids due to the fear of repercussions from their influential parents. She noted that they assume individuals seeking work can be coerced into complying with their demands.
