Ferdous across both borders
Over the years, noted actor Ferdous carved a place for himself in the hearts of audiences with his wonderful performances. Throughout his illustrious career, the actor has garnered a large fanbase in both Bangladesh and Kolkata.
Recently, Ferdous added to his list of accolades by making his debut as a writer, in last month's Ekushey Boi Mela, with his book, "Ei Kahini Shotto Noy". Currently, the actor has multiple films awaiting release and is busy shooting a new project as well.
In a casual conversation with The Daily Star, the actor talked about his upcoming films.
Is it true that you are acting in the upcoming film, "Dokhino Dowar"?
Yes. The project is being directed by Syed Wahiduzzaman Diamond. I have worked with him on two other films before. We have already completed 70 percent of the shooting. But I must say, the location of the shoot—which is in Madaripur's Shibchar upazila—is truly an incredibly beautiful site.
For shooting purposes, we had to cross the Padma bridge multiple times, but I still cannot forget just how beautiful the landmark is. Also, it is a source of great pride for all of us.
Every day, there would be a crowd watching our shoot, yet, they would not cause even an ounce of disturbance or chaos. I will surely remember these sweet experiences for the rest of my days.
Could you tell us about your character in "Dokhino Dowar"?
I am playing the role of a local influential person, who is quite rich. The character is a bit different and I have also changed my get-up for the role. As an actor, I believe this film will be a memorable addition to my career.
We, the actors, along with the director are handling the film with a lot of care. All of us are determined to deliver our best with this movie. Alongside myself, the film also features Samsun Nahar Shimla and Adhora Khan, among others.
Your upcoming film, "Dampara" is currently awaiting release. What can you share about it?
It's an amazing film, revolving around the life of a martyred freedom fighter, who was also a police officer during the Liberation War. I have never portrayed such a character before and have invested much of my time to becoming the best version of this character. My co-star, Ashna Habib Bhabna also did a spectacular job.
You are also gearing up to shoot another new film in India soon. Are there any details that you can share with us?
Yes, that's true. Hopefully, we will start shooting for this project after Eid-ul Fitr. After a long time, I will be acting in an Indian film and will get to meet many old friends there. I used to be quite active in the film scene on both sides of Bengal (Bangladesh and Kolkata). I truly miss those wonderful days.
How was the experience of attending Dhaka University's Basanta Utsav celebrations yesterday?
It was a truly heart-touching event for me, as an alumni of Dhaka University's department of Mass Communications and Journalism. The Dhaka University Cultural Society honoured me at the event, which really touched my heart. After such a long time, I got to visit TSC for this festival and felt everyone's love for me at the event.
