‘Fyakra’ set to premiere on Bongo this week

Amid nationwide unrest last August, director Asif Chowdhury pushed ahead with the shooting of his web series "Fyakra", even as most productions came to a halt. Overcoming numerous challenges, Chowdhury has now completed the project, which will premiere on Bongo on May 8.

Set against a backdrop of chaos and desperation, "Fyakra" follows Samad, who needs a hefty sum to win over his love interest, Golapi. Short on options, he turns to his friends for help, and together they hatch a plan for a robbery. But things quickly spiral out of control when a woman is accidentally killed during the heist. What starts as a desperate attempt at love becomes a frantic battle for survival, as the woman's grieving husband and the police both launch a relentless pursuit.

Fyakra

The seven-episode series has been scripted by Neyamoth Ullah Masum and Ahmamad Saad, weaving a darkly thrilling tale of crime, consequence, and twisted fate.

Partho Sheikh stars as Samad, with Nidra Dey Neha playing Golapi. The series also boasts performances from Shamol Mawla, Mir Rabby, Nishat Priom, Abdullah Al Sentu, Kazi Abrar, Sarah Alam, A K Azad Setu, and Hasnat Ripon, among others — a powerhouse cast bringing layered, flawed, and very real characters to life.

Fyakra

Talking about the project, director Asif Chowdhury said, "The story is really strong — I believe the plot alone will hold the audience's attention throughout. Every actor has delivered remarkable performances. Though the story kicks off with Samad and Golapi, each character is equally important and everyone did justice to their roles."

Reflecting on the challenges of filming, the director of the series, Asif recalled, "Shooting during August was no easy feat. We faced many obstacles. There were even incidents of highway robberies across the country at the time. During our late-night shoots on highways, people often mistook us for suspicious activity. We even faced threats of getting our shoot shut down. But despite it all, we made it through. Now, our hard work is finally paying off — the audience will soon get to experience the series."
