Grateful to have spent 52 years with her: Abul Hayat

Today marks 52 years of conjugal life for noted actor and theatre personality Abul Hayat. The Ekushey Padak Awardee returned home after vacationing in the USA with Bipasha Hayat and Tauquir Ahmed.  During Eid, the artiste can be seen in a project directed by Hanif Sanket. As he was on vacation, he could not work on any other projects.

How was your trip to the USA?

I had a wonderful time in New York. I got to spend some quality time with my daughter, son-in-law and my grandchildren. My wife and I had a great time, we also got to visit other states as well. We were overjoyed to meet so many of our loved ones after such a long time. I met one of my acquaintances after almost 17 years. So yes, the trip has been quite memorable for me.

"Even after 52 years we have the same, if not more, level of trust and mutual understanding," shares the actor.

Did you find any time to work on any Eid projects?

Only one production, which is directed by Hanif Sanket. Since I was not in the country, I wasn't even able to direct any projects. So, this Eid I will be having a great time watching projects from my fellow colleagues.

What was Eid like during your childhood? Do you ever get nostalgic reminiscing those memories?

Of course, how can someone forget such precious memories. I remember when we used to stay in Chattogram, our father would bring the sacrificial animal a few days before Eid. Me and my friends or cousins would spend the entire day looking after the animal, from feeding them to taking them out to the fields for a walk. Although, after the qurbani, we would be quite upset for the rest of the day.

The festival is equally enjoyable at this age, as now I get to spend Eid with my grandchildren.

Do you have any plans for writing a new book?

I have been planning to write a book on travelling. This is a difficult genre to tackle, since it requires one to be very descriptive. So, I am taking some time to plan this book out before I start writing it. Other than that, I am also planning on writing a few short stories and novels.

On this day 52 years ago, Abul Hayat tied the knot with Shirin.

This year marks 52 years of your marriage. What advice do you have for living a happy life together?

Even after 52 years we have the same, if not more, level of trust and mutual understanding. This is what keeps us together and I am thankful to my wife Shirin for taking such great care of our family.
